Wednesday 5 th September saw DiGiCo’s distributors descend upon Chessington for its first distributor meeting since the company’s management buyout in July.
There was an air of anticipation in the Holiday Inn’s Serengeti room that morning, as everyone gathered to find out what the new management team had in store.
Proceedings kicked off with Bob explaining the new set up and introducing the team. He then handed over to James and John, who took everyone through how, from a technology viewpoint, the DiGiCo product line had reached its current incarnation.
The afternoon heralded an awards ceremony with Best Newcomer going to Atlantic Audio, Best Improved Territory going to Apex France, Most Loyal Distributor going to Team 108, Best Distributor going to Meyer Spain and the award for Delivering on their word went to Group Technology.
This was followed by a glimpse of the technological advancements that might be in store for the future, including digital stealth processing and promise of dinner at a secret location.
And so on to the evening… The secret location turned out to be London’s Tower Bridge, which was to be the setting for DiGiCo’s Fifth Birthday and MBO party, which the team was to share with its distributors as well as rental companies and member of the press.
Both sides of the Bridge’s high level walkways were utilised, up river side hosting a champagne reception and guests then moved round to the down river side, where the tables were adorned with DiGiCo-branded ice sculptures, for a three course dinner.
But before any of that, the even bigger secret was revealed. DiGiCo’s plans for the future where a lot further forward than they had let on earlier in the day and Tower Bridge was not only the venue for a party, but where they were to unveil their concept console, the SD7.
