SOLOTECH PURCHASE D5 FOR MICHAEL BUBLE TOUR

Canadian hire company Solotech has became the proud owner of a DiGiCo D5 mixing desk. The desk was acquired through DiGiCo’s Canadian distributors, GerrAudio Distribution Inc., specifically for Michael Buble’s North American tour to support his third album, Call Me Irresponsible .

Solotech was founded in Montreal in 1977 and has since provided sound, lighting, video and new media at both national and international levels. The company has a team of over 300 professionals who are committed to delivering spectacular experiences through their passion and innovation. The sales and rental departments work in tandem to find the ideal technical solutions that make its clients’ visions a reality. And this includes investing in new equipment at the client’s requests. Enter the D5…

Hugo Tardif, Technical Co-ordinator of the Solotech sound department confirmed that the company “ got the D5 specifically for Michael Buble's monitors on the US and Canadian leg of his tour.” It’s the console of choice for Craig Brittain, Buble’s monitor mixer. Tardif continues: “The desk was also present in a lot of the artists technical riders we were getting, so we decided it was time to go ahead and get one.”

Brittain began using the DiGiCo D5 Live 56EX console during the Canadian crooner’s eight UK arena shows in November and December last year. “Starting on it in Europe and the UK worked out very well,” said Brittain. “I was able to go to DiGiCo’s premises and spend some time with Tim Shaxson and Roger Wood, who got me up to speed really quickly with customising its settings for the show. I was really impressed with the flexibility and ease of setup. Once I got on to it, I realised the decision was a no brainer.”

Tardif says that Solotech are very happy with the new acquisition. “ The desk is compact and self contained,” he said. “It offers great reliability on the road. Andrew Hope at GerrAudio has been great in providing us with outstanding tour support. We also appreciate the availability of people like Tim Shaxson at DiGiCo; they really are on the right Soundtrac! Solotech can't wait to get its hands on an SD7...”

Solotech has been the official supplier to the Montreal International Jazz Festival for over two decades. Just For Laughs, the world’s largest comedy festival and the Canadian Grand Prix have also called upon its services for many years. The company has also spent more than ten years on tour with Celine Dion, André Rieu, the Cirque du Soleil and numerous other major artists.
