Norwest Productions, one of Australia’s largest audio rental companies, was recently asked to supply a DiGiCo D5T digital mixing console for the Australian Production of Spamalot. Not having one available from stock, this meant they had to make a specific purchase. This, however, was not a problem, rather an opportunity to buy something they had wanted for sometime.
“We had really wanted a D5T and we were just waiting and hoping for a project that justified the investment,” explains Norwest’s Christopher Kennedy. Almost as soon as the console came through Norwest’s the door, it was out again. “We have simply hired it to the company that is doing Spamalot,” continues Kennedy. “But because it arrived a week early, we took the opportunity to take it out for the entertainment component of the AFL Grand Final (the biggest football match in Australia – Australian Rules football). We had about 60 inputs and a whole bunch of cues. We were originally using a D5, but there’s nothing like giving a new console a run.
“The engineers have found the D5T very easy to get to grips with. We already own a D5, so it is just a few steps further on and the support we’ve received from DiGiCo has been as great as ever.
“This is a fantastic sounding console and there’s just no comparison to its immediate competitors!”
